Sofia's substantial User Experience and Product Design career has taken her to in-house design teams from well-known brands around the world, including Microsoft, Visa, Costco, Concur, Eddie Bauer, and many others. While focused on usability experience, Sofia decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an artist in the figurative and stylized fields. Her work represents what is recognizable and fantastical about people and their lived experiences in the world. Sofia attempts to capture the diversity and nuance of groups and individuals mixed with whimsical imagery from a child’s imagination. Inspired by realism, the work moves toward stylized, abstract, and surreal interpretations of humans in motion, shaped by moments of whimsy.
Painting human faces and bodies often becomes a conduit for exploration of mood and emotion informed by observations of natural phenomena.
One of my most recent paintings was chosen by the Ryan James Fine Arts Competition to be part of their July exhibit alongside other local artists.
